Intro To Rarest Interesting Sport 3 : Street Luge

Street luge is an extreme gravity powered activity that involves riding a street luge board down a paved road or course. Street luge is also known as land luge or road luge.

Street luge was born in Southern California as downhill skateboarders found they could achieve faster speeds by lying down on their skateboards. This early form is now called to as 'laydown skateboarding'. In 1995 the first professional race was held at Signal Hill , California, hosted by U.S. Skateboard Association. The race winner was based on top speed. Later many rules were brought and thus a professional sport named street luge evolved. In the mid 1990s, ESPN's X Games showcased street luge to the world and the sport was originally sanctioned by RAIL, then by International Gravity Sports Association. NBC followed ESPN's lead and created the Gravity Games in which the sport was sanctioned by Extreme Downhill International (EDI). There are now about 1200 active street luge riders in the world.

Street Luger's ride boards in the supine position. The design is according to the rules set forth by different governing bodies. Street luge boards are made from materials such as steel, aluminium, wood and carbon fibre. Actual board design differs as the constructio n rules are very open and allow for many design considerations.
Riders should wear safety equipment such as hard shell helmet with chin strap and face shield or goggles , leather or Kevlar racing suit ,leather or Kevlar gloves , sturdy Shoes..
Race courses are usually held on mountain roads but have been held on city streets as well. Courses can range in lenght from 0.5 to 3miles and vary in layout. Many racing formats such as single elimination with 2,4,or 6 racers at a time, timed trials , mass runs(20 racers at a time) etc. are conducted.

Intro To Rarest Interesting Sport 2 : Speak Takraw

Sepak takraw also known as kick volleyball, is a sport native to Southeast Asia. Sepak takraw use rattan ball and only allows players to use their feet, knee, chest and head to touch the ball.
“Sepak” is the Malay word for kick and “takraw” is the Thai word for a hand woven rattan ball. The game is essentially a kick ball. Also, sometimes misnamed by foreigners as “Shaolin Soccer” however it is an ancient game mainly enjoyed between Thai and Laos.
International play is now governed by ISTAF, the International Sepak Takraw Federation. Major competitions for the sport such as the ISTAF Super Series, the ISTAF World Cup and the King’s Cup World Championship are held every year.
Measurements of courts and equipment often vary among tournaments and organizations that operate from a recreational to a competitive level. There are two types of event categories- the regu and the doubles regu. The regu category is played by three players on each team while the doubles regu is played by two players on each team.

The Sepak takraw sport is played on a similar to badminton double sized court. The net shall be made of fine ordinary cord or nylon with 6cm to 8 cm mesh, similar to volleyball net. The Sepak takraw ball shall be spherical, made of synthetic fibre or one woven layer. Sepak takraw balls without synthetic rubber covering must have 12 holes and 20 intersections, must have a circumference measuring not less from 42 to 44 cm for men and 43 to 45 cm for women.
An official doubles or regu match is won by best of three sets with each set being played up to 21 points. A team event or group event is effectively three regu matches played back to back, using different players for each regu.  A team has to win 2 out of 3 sets to be a winner. In the last third set the change of sides takes place when one team reaches 11 points.

Intro to interesting sport - Chessboxing

Chessboxing is a sport that combines two traditional sports, chess and boxing. The competitors fight in alternating rounds of chess and boxing. Dutch performance artist, Iepe Rubingh invented Chessboxing. Chessboxing quickly turned into a fully developed competitive sport and is now popular in Germany, India, Great Britain and Russia.

Rubingh's idea to create a sport fusing chess and boxing, originated from the comic book named Froid Equateur written by Enki Bilal- that portrays  a Chessboxing world championship. Rubingh's developed the idea further until it turned into the competitive sport that Chessboxing is today with alternating rounds of chess and boxing and a detailed set of rules and regulations.

The first Chessboxing competition took place in Berlin in 2003. That same year ,the first world championship fight was held in Amsterdam in cooperation with the Dutch Boxing Association as well as the Dutch Chess Federation and under the auspices of the World Chess Boxing Organisation (WCBO) that was founded in Berlin shortly before. Dutch middle weight fighters Iepe Rubingh and Jean Louis Veenstra faced each other in the ring. Rubingh won the fight in 11th round going down in the history books as the first ever World Chessboxing Champion. The same goes for the Chess Boxing Club Berlin, created in the following year(2004), that is the first of its kind mailing Berlin the birthplace of Chessboxing.

Chessboxing first received credit from the international Chess Federation FIDE, in April 2008, it's president, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, took part in Chessboxing demo fight in Elista. At the same time the Chessboxing community began to grow globally at even faster rate. In 2011, the first international club matchup took place with Berlin and London in the ring. London came out the winner with 2:1 won bouts.

The Chessboxing organisation India was founded in 2011 by kickboxing official and former Indian kickboxing and karate champion Montu Das. With this, the growth of Chessboxing in Asia gained momentum with the first Chessboxing Organisation in Western Asia.
At the same time , the process of turning Chessboxing professional reached a milestone. The 2013 World Championship in Moscow was the first Chessboxing event organised and marketed by Chess Boxing Global.

A Chessboxing fight consists of 11 rounds, 6 rounds of chess and 5 rounds of boxing. Chess and boxing rounds alternate, begining and ending with a round of chess. Each round lasts 3mins , regardless of whether it involves chess or boxing. The total amount of chess playing time is 18mins, making it 9mins each player. After each chess round ,the exact setup is digitally recorded and repositioned before the following chess round. The breaks in between the Chess and boxing rounds usually last 60 seconds. The duration of the rounds and overall fight time in amateur Chessboxing fights can change to somedegree ,as in for example youth tournaments and exhibition fights.

A chessboxer must have strong skills in both Chess and boxing in order to be permitted to compete in a professional Chessboxing fight. The current minimum requirements to fight in a Chess Boxing Global event include an Elite rating of 1600 and a record of at least 50 amateur bouts fought in boxing or another similar martial arts. Fighters have to mainly train in speed chess. However Chessboxing is not only the ability to master two sports but above all, being able to withstand the constant switch from a full contact sport to a thinking sport, round after round. This switch becomes extremely hard for the athlete as the fight goes on and he becomes tired.

Muhammad Ali, 'The Greatest Of All Time', Dies At 74

Former heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali, the most important, complex and polarizing athlete of our time, died Friday night at an Arizona hospital. He was 74. He had suffered for decades from Parkinson's disease, a progressive neurological disorder, and was being treated in the hospital in recent days for a respiratory issue. "After a 32-year battle with Parkinson's disease, Muhammad Ali has passed away. . . . The three-time World Heavyweight Champion boxer died this evening," Bob Gunnell, a family spokesman, told NBC News. Ali may not have been the world's greatest athlete, or even the best boxer of all time - though he is certainly in both discussions. What is indisputable, though, is he was the most beautiful athlete we had ever seen, and likely ever will again - beautiful not so much in the common sense of physical attraction, but in the classical sense, the platonic sense. He was beautiful in motion, the way he danced in the ring - the patented Ali Shuffle - as he circled another victim. And he was beautiful in complete stillness, as in the many iconic photographs of him: standing over Sonny Liston in 1965, his arm cocked in rage; leaning on the rope, glistening with sweat, during a break from training; delivering a devastating right hook to Joe Frazier; clowning with the Beatles; mugging for the camera.

Arsenal transfer news and rumours: Gunners eyeing THREE striker options?

PLUS: Jordan Lukaku, brother of Everton striker Romelu, believes his style of play would suit the Premier League - and has admitted to being an Arsenal fan. Arsenal could move for Batshuayi Arsenal are reportedly considering making a bid for Marseille forward Michy Batshuayi after Danny Welbeck was ruled out for nine months. The Daily Star say Arsenal have been watching the Belgian closely this season and will enquire as to his availability this summer. Batshuayi, 22, has scored 21 times in 48 appearances this season but L'OM endured a torrid campaign as a whole, finishing 13th in the table. Lukaku "a fan of Arsenal" Speaking to The Set Pieces, Lukaku said: “Do I see myself as a Premier League-bound? “I don’t know, but it’s a league that would suit me. I have always been a fan of Arsenal, but I am mad about every Premier League club as long as the club doesn’t have to fight against relegation.” The 21-year-old currently plays for Oostende in the Belgian Pro League. Arsenal could turn to Morata Danny Welbeck's devastating injury blow could force Arsenal to step up their pursuit of a new striker, writes MirrorFootball's John Cross. The England man has undergone surgery on his right knee after suffering a serious cartilage injury in Arsenal’s draw at Manchester City on Sunday. The heartbreaking news comes on top of Welbeck missing 10 months with an injury to his other knee and he had only just returned in February. It will also push the Gunners into the market this summer with Juventus striker Alvaro Morata their top target. Arsenal have also looked at Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi but if Morata - Real Madrid have a buy-back option which may push through the deal - becomes available then he will be their number one. Gunners eye Guirassy Arsene Wenger is eyeing a move for little-known French striker Sehrou Guirassy, writes MirrorFootball's John Cross. Arsenal boss Wenger has been alerted to the 20-year-old Lille starlet, who has impressed while on loan at French second division club Auxerre. In much the way the Gunners signed Yaya Sanogo from Auxerre three years ago at the same age, Guirassy is seen as one for the future. Sanogo has started just two Premier League games and scored just a single goal for Arsenal, while being sent on loan to Crystal palace, Charlton and Dutch side Ajax.

23.24 IST: Big, Big over for KKR! That's what they were looking for! 4,4,4,6,2,4 - Pathan on fire! Watson had a nightmare. KKR 163/4 in 17 overs
23.18 IST: 16 overs are down and KKR are 139/4, need 47 runs in 24 balls. Russell and Pathan have kept the visitors' hopes alive.

23.02 IST: Good comeback from Aaron after that first-ball six from Pathan. KKR 93/4 in 13 overs
23.00 IST:SIX! Massive power explosion from Pathan! Short of a length on off, Pathan goes back to that one and pulls it away over the cow corner region for a big maximum. He packs a real solid punch when he connects. In fact both these batsmen do and Kolkata need a big stand from this duo. KKR 90/4 in 12.1 overs
22.48 IST: OUT! Shane Watson concluded Manish Pandey's role at 8! Shortish around off, Pandey makes room to pull but mistimes it towards wide long on where Baby takes an easy catch. They check for the no ball but Watson seems to be marginally fine. So, another huge blow for Kolkata as Pandey departs. Once again Watson comes in to take a big wicket. KKR 69/4 in 10.1 overs
22.40 IST: OUT! ARAVIND STRIKES! Slower ball just around off, Gambhir misread it completely as he looks to heave across the line. Misses it to be rapped on the front pad. The ball pitches and fizzes away to go past him to disturb the stumps. Another crucial wicket for Bangalore this as the big Australian departs. That is a delivery that would have made any leg spinner proud. KKR 34/2 in 4.4 overs
22.11 IST:Four overs are gone and KKR are 32/1. Well, RCB dropped an opportunity to get rid of Lynn as his catch was put down due to a miscommunication from the fielders.

21.37 IST: Fifties from KL Rahul (52) and Virat Kohli (52) lifts RCB to 185/7 in 20 overs What a finish to the Bangalore innings! 54 came off the final 3 overs as they got themselves to a very challenging score.
21.30 IST: OUT! Russell gets rid of Sachin Baby for 16! Soft dismissal! Low full toss on leg stump, Baby walks across the stumps to play the scoop but goes off the cue end. The ball pops up back at Russell who takes the easiest of return catches. Fires the ball at the striker's stumps in anger and seems to have broken the bails in the process. RCB 167/5 in 19 overs

21.14 IST: OUT! Morkel gets rid of Kohli for 52! Big blow for the home team! Good length outside off, Kohli steps out to launch it over cover but mistimes another big shot. Andre Russell in the deep and he doesn't drop many. So, the dropped catch doesn't cost Kolkata and this is a massive, massive wicket at this stage. Ends a good knock by Kohli although he was unusually rusty tonight. RCB 129/4 in 16.4 overs
21.12 IST: FIFTY for Virat Kohli off 42 balls!RCB 126/3 in 16.1 overs
21.10 IST:SIX! JUST OVER THE ROPES!Narine drifts it in from around off, Watson reaches out to that one and slog sweeps it over deep mid-wicket for a maximum. 21:00 IST: OUT! Chawla strikes again! AB de Villiers departs for 4! Fires in the slider just around off, skids through off the deck as AB looks to play across the line. The ball kept a bit low perhaps as it crashes into the pads. The South African was looking at sea against spin tonight and falls eventually to a spinner. Huge blow that for Bangalore. RCB 109/3 in 13.4 overs
20.56 IST: RCB have got a great start! Now AB de Villiers and Kohli will look to accelerate the run-rate. RCB 106/2 in 13 overs

20.36 IST: Fifty-run stand comes up between Kohli and KL Rahul! RCB 60/1 in 8 overs
20.31 IST: Fifty up for RCB in the 7th over! Rahul and Kohli have done well to steady the ship after Gayle's early dismissal. RCB 51/1 in 7 overs

20.07 IST: OUT! Morne Morkel strikes as Chris Gayle departs for 7! IN THE AIR....AND GONE! Short ball around off, effort ball from Morkel and Gayle cannot resist the pull stroke. The bounce gets big on him and the top edge goes high up in the air on the leg side. Uthappa calls for the skier and takes it with ease. That's a massive wicket for Kolkata up front. RCB 8/1 in 1.3 overs
